Mindfulness Therapy
Mindfulness is a technique aimed at focusing attention and awareness on the present moment. It involves observing and describing an experience non-judgmentally. Mindfulness originated from Buddhism but is increasingly being used in modern clinical psychology. Mindfulness therapy involves paying attention to and sitting with thoughts, feelings and sensations. Examples of mindfulness therapy include: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC).
